Standing before nature, observing the color of the sky and the way it touches the horizon - this is where intuition speaks - for nature seems to hold still for an instant, giving the painter a moment to absorb these impressions of air, light, and sound.  This happens on an intake of breath, inspiration, the senses in a state of awe and what is being carried on the breeze might be the crispness of air or its quiet warmth, the depth of shadow and patches of light. The landscape holds beauty, it is captured by the soul and in that moment of recognition, remembered.
